Awbury Neighbors and Friends Enjoy Food and Fellowship at the Fall Harvest Potluck
Awbury’s “Fall Harvest Potluck”, originally scheduled for October 29th was rescheduled to November 5th due to the pre-Halloween snowstorm that surprised the entire northeast. The weather on the 5th couldn’t have been better, and children enjoyed pumpkin painting, leaf-jumping, and a scavenger hunt outside in the crisp autumn air as adults chatted in the parlors over delicious food. Guests were asked to participate in creating an “Awbury Tree”, by filling out cut-paper leaves with individual thoughts on theme “…my Awbury is a place where…” The tree stimulated many conversations about Awbury memories, and hopes and dreams for the future. Jeanette Woods, Community Media Editor from WHYY’s Newsworks, and Queen Muse, freelance journalist, were on hand to interview guests about the special dishes they’d brought and connect with community heroes. Visit Newsworks online (www.newsworks.org) to read Queen’s article about the event.
