In this hands on class we will prepare and sample a variety of delicious, nutritious soups and stews. Students will learn fundamentals of stock and broth, seasoning and improvising with whatever ingredients you find in your pantry (or garden). There will be an emphasis on vegetables, grains and beans, but meat and poultry stock may be used. Students are welcome to bring an ingredient they have wondered about or would like to add to the pot, and should also bring a 1 quart container for taking soup home. Cost - $30.
Food business consultant, former chef and sometimes food writer Anna Herman has over 20 years experience cooking, consulting and teaching about food. She is an avid gardener & beekeeper and director of the Backyard Farm School, whose mission is to cultivate community with gardens and food.
